Erin Andrews: Leaving ESPN For Fox Sports!

Popular ESPN reporter Erin Andrews is leaving the network, effective today.

ESPN spokesman Mike Soltys confirmed that Andrews, who has been with the worldwide leader in sports since 2004, is a goner. Her contract expires today and the network was unable to reach an agreement on an extension with her.

She will reportedly anchor Fox Sports' college football coverage this fall.

Beautiful Erin Andrews Picture

Fox declined immediate comment Friday night, but the network is making a major push into college football and Erin would represent a major "get."

This will be Fox's first regular season of college football coverage.

ESPN, in a statement wishing her the best in the future, said that Andrews "did great work for us and we made an aggressive offer to keep her."

In other news, Michael David Barrett, the perv who filmed Erin Andrews nude in her hotel room three years ago, is scheduled for release Tuesday.

Greek militant group claims Microsoft attack

ATHENS | Fri Jun 29, 2012 5:07pm EDT

ATHENS (Reuters) - A little-known leftist militant group claimed responsibility on Friday for an attack on Microsoft's Greek headquarters earlier this week.

Hooded attackers rammed a van packed with gas canisters into the Microsoft building in Athens on Wednesday and then set the vehicle on fire, causing damage but no injuries.

At least two people wielding pistols and a machinegun kept security guards away as they carried out the attack, police said.

In a statement published on the Internet, the International Revolutionary Front said it singled out Microsoft to strike a blow at capitalism.

"We chose this building because Microsoft is one of the most powerful companies of the computer sector ... which is now carrying capitalism on its shoulders," it said.

The group said it also carried out the attack as a sign of support to other militants currently detained by police in Greece and Italy.

The statement made mention of Ted Kaczynski, also known as the "Unabomber", who conducted a mail bomb campaign in the United States over almost 20 years.

Arson attacks against domestic and foreign banks and local politicians have become more frequent in Greece in recent years as the country battles soaring unemployment and struggles through a recession deepened by austerity policies imposed by foreign lenders.

The International Revolutionary Front made its first appearance last year, carrying out arson attacks on the private vehicles of policemen as well as on a branch of U.S. fast-food chain McDonald's.

"We are taking the claim seriously and are investigating its authenticity," a police official told Reuters on condition of anonymity.

50 dead, 42 missing from mudslides caused by recent heavy rains in China

BEIJING - China's Civil Affairs Ministry says mudslides caused by heavy rains have killed 50 and left another 42 missing.

The national agency said in an online statement Friday that storms have ravaged 11 provinces and regions ? mainly in south China ? since June 20 and triggered the deadly mudslides.

The ministry says about 440,000 people have been relocated and that tens of thousands of homes are severely damaged.

The death toll continues to rise. The state-run China News Service reported Saturday that four people were killed and another 37 missing from a severe mudslide in southwestern China's Sichuan province.

Mudslides are common in China's mountainous areas. Critics point to deforestation for soil erosion that has made China prone to mudslides after strong rainfall.

Daily Business News - MH Marketing Sales Management

NJ reports from Pennsville, New Jersey township officials have unanimously voted to increase fess on manufactured homes in MHCs from $24 to $28 a month, collected by the MHC owner and then forwarded to the township. There are approximately 200 homes in the White Oaks and Southbridge communities in this town that borders the Delaware River in southwest New Jersey across from Wilmington, DE. MH owners also pay for fire and police service as well as trash pick-up. The revised fee schedule was on the agenda in Feb. of this year, but several MH residents objected and the ordinance was shelved. MHProNews has learned the ordinance will become effective July 1 and will run through June 30, 2013, at which time the fees may be increased again.

Oswalt hit hard, but wins again for Rangers

Associated Press Sports

updated 11:41 p.m. ET June 27, 2012

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - Josh Hamilton again didn't swing the bat well. David Murphy more than made up for any missing production from the Texas Rangers' star outfielder on Wednesday night.

Murphy went 4-for-5 with two home runs and matched his career high with five RBIs to make a winner out of Roy Oswalt in a 13-9 victory over the Detroit Tigers.

Ian Kinsler added a two-run homer and Adrian Beltre had three hits and an RBI in support of Oswalt, who earned his second victory in as many starts with the Rangers by pitching in and out of trouble.

Oswalt (2-0) went six innings, giving up five runs and a career-high 13 hits with two walks and six strikeouts.

"It was just one of those nights where everything comes together," Murphy said. "It was just impressive the way we showed an offensive effort from top to bottom. It was very complete."

Closer Joe Nathan pitched a scoreless ninth in a nonsave situation for the Rangers, who needed just about every run for their sixth consecutive series victory, matching the club's longest such streak this season.

Every Ranger had a hit or scored except Hamilton, who went 0-for-4 and struck out four times. He continued a prolonged slump and is 6-for-36 (.167) in his past 10 games.

Murphy led the 16-hit parade with run-scoring hits in each of the Rangers' big scoring innings.

"It was just one of those nights where everything comes together," he said. "It was just impressive the way we showed an offensive effort from top to bottom. It was very complete."

Jhonny Peralta was 3-for-4 with a two-run double in the fifth inning for the Tigers, who twice fought back from big deficits, including scoring four runs in the eighth to make a game of it.

Doug Fister (1-5), who hasn't won on the road in six starts this season, took the loss.

"He just wasn't very sharp," Detroit manager Jim Leyland said of Fister. "We pitched bad and didn't play very well at all defensively.

"Pretty much sums it up."

Murphy's three-run homer in the second capped a four-run inning, a solo shot in the fourth started another four-run surge, and he had a run-scoring single in the three-run fifth that extended their lead to 11-5.

Murphy matched a career high he set June 11, 2008, at Kansas City. It was the fourth multihomer game of his career.

In two starts this season, Oswalt is 2-0 with a 4.43 ERA in 12 2-3 innings. He gave up nine hits but only one walk and one run in 6 2-3 innings in his debut June 16.

"My command's great, I'm throwing the ball where I want to," Oswalt said. "A few balls leaked on me a little bit during the game, but overall, for all four pitches, I felt pretty good coming out of my hand, like I can throw a strike when I want to.

"For my second start, I feel pretty close to where I want to be."

The Rangers scored four runs on four hits and an error in the second.

Beltre, who led off the inning with a single, scored the first run when Detroit third baseman Miguel Cabrera threw wide to first on Nelson Cruz's slow roller.

Murphy followed with a home run to right on an 0-2 pitch.

Hamilton struck out for the third time in the fourth inning.

"I'm not concerned about Josh," manager Ron Washington said. "Give Josh 600 at-bats, and he's going to do some damage. That's all that I look at."

His second homer of the game, which landed in the Rangers bullpen in right-center, put the Rangers up 5-2.

Kinsler followed with his homer that gave Oswalt a five-run lead.

The Tigers chipped away at five- and six-run deficits in the fifth and eighth. Quintin Berry's triple with no outs in the fifth scored Austin Jackson, who led off with a single.

Oswalt got Cabrera to pop out softly to first and Berry was caught in a rundown on a fielder's choice on Prince Fielder's grounder to Beltre.

But Delmon Young singled and Alex Avila, who had two hits, followed with a walk to load the bases for Peralta's two-out double that trimmed the lead to 7-5.

Down 11-5 in the eighth, the Tigers used run-scoring hits from Jackson, Young and Avila off relievers Martin Perez and Mike Adams and an error by Kinsler to score four runs.

"We hustled hard and had good at-bats," Leyland said. "You got to play better than that, pitch better than that to have a chance here.

"This was an ugly game. You just turn the page and go on to the next stop."

Cabrera had a run-scoring single in the third and Brennan Boesch had an RBI.

Notes: Robbie Ross, who pitched a scoreless seventh, extended his scoreless streak to 16 2-3 innings over his last 11 appearances. . Rangers starter Derek Holland, on the 15-day DL, retroactive to June 6, threw 39 pitches in a rehabilitation start for Triple-A Round Rock, giving up one run and three hits, including a home run, one walk and two strikeouts over three innings. . Beltre, the leading All-Star game vote-getter among AL third basemen, is hitting .567 with three doubles, two home runs and six RBIs during his current hitting streak, which he extended to eight games with a 3-for-5 night. . The Tigers have scored a run in 143 consecutive games, dating to July 17, 2011.

How to End an Emotional Affair ? 5 Steps To Take To End Emotional ...

You?ve gone too far and you know it. If you don?t end it now, it may become sexual and then it may be too late to recover-for you, for your partner and for the person with whom you?ve become overly involved.

You?ve violated the boundaries of a commitment, not with your body, but with your emotions.

Your affection is tangled up with someone who is otherwise committed or you are the person who has allowed an opposite sex friendship to become a passion. As hard as it may be to disengage yourself from an emotional affair, you know it needs to end. But, how?

There?s No Sex, So Why Quit?

If being faithful to a partner only meant being chaste outside a relationship, you?d be home free. You haven?t broken your promise physically, so what have you really done wrong?

?The role of an affair is to create emotional distance.? ? David Moultrop from Husbands, Wives and Lovers: The Emotional System of the Extramarital Affair, 1990

Women?s extramarital affairs are more emotional than sexual. ? Glass & Wright, study of marital dissatisfaction and extramarital involvement, 1985

Non-sexual strong emotional attachment is experienced by 44% of husbands and 57% of wives who have affairs. ? Shirley Glass in Not ?Just Friends?

?In an emotional affair you keep secrets. In a friendship, you do not. Friendships do not lead to divorce.? Mary Kearl in AOL Health, ?Signs of an Emotional Affair?, 2009

?About half of such emotional involvements do eventually turn into full-blown affairs?? MSNBC

In Over Your Head

On the surface, an emotional affair seems innocent enough. Two people enjoy one another?s company, share great times and become close. So far, that seems like friendship and that?s what it is, until the pleasure of the company reaches an emotional tipping point and begins to dissolve the unspoken relationship, the one that includes an existing partner, who is the most distant member of the triangle?often clueless and utterly deceived.

Symptoms of an Emotional Affair

*Desiring to spend more time with a friend than a partner.

*Sharing highly intimate details of a committed or marital relationship with a friend.

*Withdrawing physically and emotionally from a committed spouse or lover.

*Being secretive with your partner about the time spent with a special friend.

*Daydreaming or sexually fantasizing about being with a friend.

*Feeling that a friend understands you better than your partner.

*Experiencing jealousy over a friend?s relationships with other people.

The Betrayers

Many times, for the two people inside an emotional affair, nothing seems wrong. Without the sexual aspect, the close friendship appears to safely bob above the level of an affair. Deep feelings between the friends are not denied, although they may be subdued on purpose. What is dismissed in an emotional affair is the damage caused to a core relationship and to the victim spouse or lover. Denial of that damage can remain as long as the affair never reaches a physical level.

The Betrayed

The partner of the spouse or lover wrapped up in emotional infidelity may be unaware of the relationship destruction taking place. Not always. Even with strong hints that an affair exists, an uninvolved partner may prefer to remain in the dark.

Emotional distance already exists between partners who have problems with intimacy. When the issue is not addressed or resolved, this makes an affair easier to rationalize for the partner who strays. It also satisfies an irrational need of the uninvolved partner to maintain a continued emotional separation.

Ending the Affair

As difficult as it may be to put an end to an emotional affair voluntarily, stopping it only after it has been discovered is far worse. By then, the consequences that result may mean there is no turning back for any of the three people ensnared by it. Dragging out the end of an affair is doing no favors for those affected by it. Action needs to be definite and immediate.

1. Disconnect ? It?s time to dispense with the constant phone calls, texts and emails. In order to make the break, both parties in the affair must know that what has been can no longer be and that starts with an end to communication. Ending contact needs to happen abruptly. Letting it linger may give the impression that there is room to negotiate. Spell out clearly that further contact will not be made and that future friendship will not be possible.

2. Expect Affair Fallout ? It will probably be true that the decision to end an affair may not be a mutual one for the people involved. This should not influence the decision by one party to stop it, even though it does present risks, including retaliation.

3. Tell Your Spouse or Lover ? You have exited the affair, but there are painful obstacles still to come. Sitting down with your partner and telling everything? that you have been too intimate with another person, that you have stopped the affair and that you are sorry for breaching the relationship?s boundaries?is all part of an affair exit that is designed to help resolve the reasons that may have led to the affair in the first place.

4. Relationship Reaction ? When a partner hears of your affair, the reaction may be one of disappointment, shock and rejection. You have gone outside your promise and the backlash may be severe, but this is part of the consequences. The impact of your news is a realization that the emotional affair was wrong and hurtful.

5. Recovering the Relationship ? After the disclosure of an affair, a betrayed partner may want a separation or divorce, but that?s not always true. The shock value of the affair can also be used to strengthen the couple?s bond by highlighting the fact that there are now recognized problems in the relationship that can no longer be ignored. Partners, now free of the deception and clutter of an affair, have the truth plainly in sight and can take the opportunity to seek solutions, between themselves or through professional counselling.

(AP) ? An Egyptian court suspended on Tuesday a government decision allowing military police and intelligence to arrest civilians, a setback for the country's military rulers after the decree drew an outcry from opponents who accused them of trying to impose martial law.

The Justice Ministry issued a decree on July 13 that allowed military police and intelligence agents to arrest civilians for even minor offenses such as traffic violations. Rights activists feared the new powers essentially reproduced the country's hated emergency law, which had expired just two weeks earlier after more than 30 years in force. The emergency law granted broad powers of arrest and detention to police that were abused over the years and fed the popular anger that led to last year's uprising.

Critics said the new powers of detention could extend the rule of the generals, even if they transfer power to the elected president by the end of this month as promised.

Military officials said at the time that the new powers were only meant to fill a security vacuum resulting from the uprising when the police force collapsed and disappeared from the streets during the first days of mass protests.

The government, which was appointed by the ruling Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF), can appeal the court decision.

The military has pledged to turn power over to a civilian government once a new president is named. On Sunday, Islamist Mohammed Morsi of the fundamentalist Muslim Brotherhood was declared Egypt's first freely elected president in modern history.

However Morsi is facing a power struggle with the military rulers after they stripped the presidency of its major powers one week before the winner of the election was announced.

The ruling military council has used court decrees and constitutional declarations to stop Islamists from controlling all the executive and legislative branches.

The same court postponed a key decision on overturning the ruling military council's order to disband the Islamist-dominated parliament.

The Muslim Brotherhood and another Islamist group, the ultraconservative Salafis, won more than 70 percent of parliament in a free election around the start of the year. The parliament, according to Egypt's interim constitution, is tasked with forming a panel to write the constitution. Twice, liberals walked away from panels formed by the Islamist-controlled parliament, saying the panels are packed with Islamists and voicing fears that Egypt's new constitution would end up more Islamic.

However, two days before the June 16-17 presidential runoff, the ruling council dissolved parliament after a court determined that the parliamentary elections were illegal. As polls closed on June 17, the SCAF issued a declaration of constitutional amendments that gave the ruling military legislative power and control over the process of drafting the constitution.

They also declared a new body, The National Defense Council, dominated by generals with a wide mandate to decide security, military and foreign affairs.

On Tuesday, attempts to reverse some of the military council's decrees were stalled after the Cairo Administrative Court postponed a ruling to July 7 on the legality of dissolving the 498-member parliament.

The case was brought by lawmakers.

In the absence of a parliament, Morsi must take his oath of office before the Constitutional Court, which was behind the ruling that recommended dissolving the Brotherhood-led parliament.

If Morsi takes the oath in front of the court, it will undermine him in the eyes of many, especially those who staged a sit-in for a week in Cairo's Tahrir Square against the military's power grab.

Morsi, according to his spokesman Yasser Ali, has been meeting with legal and constitutional experts to try to resolve the swearing in dilemma.

Also on Tuesday, the same court postponed to Sept. 1 an appeal that sought to disband a 100-member panel appointed by parliament to draft a new constitution. That left the panel and the constitution drafting process in limbo.

Next step on path to playoff: Presidents chime in

NEW YORK (AP) ? The only things standing in the way of a major college football playoff are 12 university presidents.

They figure to be more of a speed bump than a road block.

The BCS commissioners will present their four-team playoff proposal to the presidential oversight committee Tuesday in Washington.

The committee is headed by Virginia Tech's Charles W. Steger and includes one university leader from each of the 11 major football conferences, as well as independent Notre Dame.

Whether approval will come quickly or the presidents will take some time to mull over the proposal, maybe toss it back for tweaks, is unknown. The commissioners have been careful not to get too far out in front of the presidents when publicly talking about a playoff.

But it is safe to say the men who have spent hours upon hours hashing this out over the last six months believe their bosses will approve of their work.

"I'm confident as we brief (the presidents) over the next week or so, give them an understanding of the evolution of the ideas ? what's been put off to the side, why it's been put off to the side, how we were able to manage the things that seemed to be irreconcilable for a long time ? that they will give our advice appropriate weight," Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany said after last week's meetings in Chicago.

"Could there be a present with a bow on it and everything wrapped up (Tuesday)?" Delany said. "It could happen, if you're real optimistic. But I would think we'll probably need to spend some more time together, and probably resolve some outstanding issues."

The Big Ten presidents and their cohorts in the Pac-12 haven't been as quick to embrace the idea of a playoff. A model called the plus-one, which is basically the BCS but with participants for the No. 1 vs. No. 2 championship game determined after the bowls are played instead of before, was deemed preferable to a playoff by those leagues.

Nebraska Chancellor Harvey Perlman, who is a member of the oversight committee, has said he still prefers the status quo to a playoff and that he will need convincing to sign off on the commissioners' plan.

But he also usually qualifies his comments on changes to the college football postseason the way he did to The Washington Post last week: "Clearly, that all the commissioners reached a consensus of some sort is a big step," he told the newspaper. "I think the presidents would be reluctant to overrule the people that actually work in the area unless there was good reason to do so."

The plan to be presented would go into effect during the 2014 season. Under the proposal, national semifinals would be played on New Year's Eve or New Year's Day. The sites for those games will rotate among the four current BCS games ? Rose, Sugar, Orange and Fiesta ? and possibly another bowl or two.

The national championship game would be played about 10 days later at another neutral site. The title game site would be bid on the way the NFL handles where the Super Bowl is played. Any city that can pay the multimillion dollar tab and accommodate a huge event could potentially host college football's championship game, including those that don't currently host bowl games.

The plan also calls for college football's final four to be determined by a selection committee, though who will be on that committee and how big it will be is to be determined.

The commissioners are also working on parameters and guidelines to give the proposed selection committee that they hope will eliminate some of the subjectivity that hampers the current system.

The commissioners want strength of schedule emphasized and to give conference champions some preference. They are also working on power rankings, similar to the RPI used by the NCAA basketball tournament selection committee.

The commissioners will have about four hours Tuesday to make their case. While they would like to have this wrapped up sooner rather than later, there is really no hard deadline.

The new format needs to be finalized by the time television contract negotiations begin in the fall. The current deal ends after the 2013 season.

Current TV partner ESPN will have an exclusive first crack at making a deal, but there is no drop-dead date for that window to open.

So even though there is no finish line, the end of this playoff process seems to be approaching.

Mitt Romney Billed $10,000 By Newport Beach, Calif. To Cover Cost Of Officer Overtime

  • NASCAR Friends

At the Daytona 500 race, Mitt Romney's <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/02/26/mitt-romney-nascar-team-owners_n_1303029.html" target="_hplink">attempt to connect with voters went awry</a> when he admitted that he didn't follow racing as closely as "some of the most ardent fans." "But I have some friends who are NASCAR team owners," he added. At the same event, he told a group of fans wearing plastic ponchos, "I like those fancy raincoats you bought. Really sprung for the big bucks." Romney later <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/03/01/mitt-romney-garbage-bag-rain-gear_n_1313499.html" target="_hplink">defended the comment</a>, saying, "Look, I have worn a garbage bag for rain gear myself."

  • Loving The Height Of Michigan's Trees

Romney campaigned through Michigan ahead of the state's GOP primary in March, <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/02/24/mitt-romney-michigan-trees_n_1299937.html" target="_hplink">frequently making mention</a> of its foliage. <blockquote>Mitt Romney's last few Michigan stump speeches have included an unusual plank -- his appreciation for the apparently perfect height of the state's trees. "I love this state," he told an audience Tuesday. "The trees are the right height." On Friday afternoon, Romney reprised the comment, saying, "This feels good, being back in Michigan. You know, the trees are the right height."</blockquote> Of course, those comments were just the latest examples of Romney professing his love for the Wolverine State's trees. For more, read the <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/02/24/mitt-romney-michigan-trees_n_1299937.html" target="_hplink">rest of the story</a>.

  • Romney Likes Grits, Y'all

At a March stump speech in Mississippi, Romney <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/03/09/mitt-romney-i-like-grits-learning-to-say-yall_n_1334935.html?ref=elections-2012" target="_hplink">explained to primary voters</a> that he had been making attempts to solidify his Southern credentials. <blockquote>Campaigning in Mississippi on Wednesday, Mitt Romney attempted to win over local voters by invoking a beloved regional delicacy. The former Massachusetts governor said during a speech in Pascagoula, Miss., that he is turning into an "unofficial Southerner." He also joked, "I'm learning to say 'y'all' and I like grits. Strange things are happening to me."</blockquote>

  • Packzi Problems

Romney tried to connect with a Michigan crowd by providing 35 dozen paczkis, Polish jelly doughnuts traditionally eaten on Fat Tuesday, with flavors including strawberry, rose-hip and prune. But as <em>The Washington Post</em> reports, <a href="http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/two-michigan-rallies-reveal-romney-santorum-flaws/2012/02/21/gIQA5Sz9ZR_print.html" target="_hplink">the gesture went awry</a>: <blockquote>The Comeback Kid walked out smiling, wearing a button-down shirt and jeans. And immediately messed something up. "By the way, how was the paczkis this morning? Yeah, yeah! That was very good," Romney said. His message: We are not so different, you and I. We have both just eaten the same food! But then Romney began talking about the powdered sugar on the paczki. There was no powdered sugar. The doughnuts were glazed and bare. "Reminded me of what's going on outside," Romney said, comparing the falling snow to a doughnut that people had not eaten. (Had he not really eaten one of the paczki, after all? Had Romney's campaign given the naked doughnuts to the crowd, while Romney was eating upgraded, sugar-dusted ones backstage?)</blockquote> Passing out baked goods is apparently something of a Romney hallmark, per this pool report of his <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/01/21/sc-primary-mitt-romney-ha_n_1220447.html" target="_hplink">foisting Panera on reporters</a> during a flight.

  • A Couple Of Cadillacs

Mitt Romney tried to woo voters in Michigan when he off-handedly listed the American cars he and his wife owned, but may have instead ended up painting himself as out of touch. "I like the fact that most of the cars I see are Detroit-made automobiles," Romney <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/02/24/mitt-romney-cadillac_n_1299740.html" target="_hplink">said during an economic policy address</a>. "I drive a Mustang and a Chevy pickup truck. Ann drives a couple of Cadillacs actually. I used to have a Dodge pickup truck, so I used to have all three covered." Ann Romney's SRXs, retail new for $35,485 to $54,525.

  • $10,000 Bet

During a December debate, Mitt Romney tried to make a point by challenging rival Rick Perry to a bet over the content of his book, "No Apology." "You've raised that before, Rick, and you're simply wrong," Romney <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/12/10/mitt-romneys-10000-bet-rick-perry_n_1141387.html" target="_hplink">said</a>. "Rick, I'll tell you what: 10,000 bucks?" He may have been right, but it was the dollar amount that raised eyebrows. $10,000 is <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/WestWingReport/status/145696946579972097" target="_hplink">three months' salary</a> for many Americans.

  • Pink Slips

During the New Hampshire primary, Mitt Romney <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/01/09/new-hampshire-primary-romney-rivals-final-appeals_n_1193570.html" target="_hplink">told an audience</a> at a campaign stop that he understood the fear of being fired, and that "there were a couple of times when I was worried I was going to get pink-slipped." Then-opponent Rick Perry mocked the statement, saying, "I have no doubt that Mitt Romney was worried about pink slips - whether he'd have enough of them to hand out."

  • Oh, My Goodness!

At a campaign stop this spring in Derry, New Hampshire, Mitt Romney pulled a gag that raised eyebrows. While posing for a photo with his arms around the waitresses at Mary Ann's Diner, Romney suddenly jumped forward, acting as if someone had pinched his hind quarters."Oh, my goodness gracious!" he exclaimed. The GOP presidential candidate later said he was "just teasing" and the gag is "kind of fun to do."

  • Chrome For The Hollandaise

During a Granite State visit, Mitt Romney stopped off at Blake's Restaurant in Manchester. On the way out he met with the diner's owner <a href="http://www.slate.com/blogs/weigel/2011/06/14/mitt_romney_vs_diners.html" target="_hplink">and cracked this egg</a>: <blockquote>I saw a young man over there with eggs benedict. He had the eggs benedict with a hollandaise sauce and the eggs, there. And I was going to suggest to you that you serve your eggs with hollandaise sauce and hubcaps. Because there's no plates like chrome for the hollandaise!</blockquote> <em>Get it!?</em> The owner laughed politely.

  • Corporations Are People

At an August rally in Iowa, Mitt Romney attempted to school a heckler by telling him that "corporations are people." "Corporations are people, my friend... of course they are," Romney said, <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/08/11/mitt-romney-heckled-iowa_n_924426.html" target="_hplink">answering a question about entitlement reform</a>. "Everything corporations earn ultimately goes to the people. Where do you think it goes? Whose pockets? Whose pockets? People's pockets. Human beings my friend."

  • Know Each Other?

Trying to make small talk with patrons at a New Hampshire diner, Romney asked a married couple sitting in a booth together, "You know each other?" Other Romney conversation nonstarters, <a href="http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/a-day-of-awkwardness-with-mitt-romney/2011/06/14/AGApq6UH_story.html" target="_hplink">via The <em>Washington Post</em></a>: <blockquote>To a man wearing a "Joe Gauci Landscaping" T-shirt: "You do some landscaping work?" To two older women who just came from the gym: "Are your knees, hips doing okay?" ... Romney seemed to be auditing one man: "What's happened to your financials the last couple of years?"</blockquote>

  • 'I'm Also Unemployed'

On the campaign trail in Florida, Romney and a small group of voters discussed unemployment and how to find a job in the struggling economy. The GOP presidential candidate worth more than $200 million chimed in, "I should tell my story. I'm also unemployed." The crowd laughed and asked if he was on LinkedIn. "I'm networking," Romney said, "I have my sight on a particular job."

  • Who Let The Dogs Out?

In the now-infamous video from Romney's 2008 presidential bid, Mitt is seen meeting with voters at a Martin Luther King Day parade in Florida. After nervously approaching a crowd of youngsters and awkwardly weaving his arm into the huddle, he randomly <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/01/22/mitt-romney-who-let-the-d_n_82486.html" target="_hplink">blurted out</a>, "Who let the dogs out? Whoo Whoo!" For the full effect, watch the YouTube video above.

  • Anyone Over 100?

At a town hall event at a senior center in New Hampshire, Mitt Romney asked the elderly audience if anyone was over 100 years old. The exchange, <a href="http://dailycaller.com/2011/08/25/romneys-awkward-senior-moment/" target="_hplink">via the Daily Caller</a>: <blockquote>"Anybody here over 100 years old?" Romney asked. Crickets. "Not yet, but we're getting there, right? We're on our way," continued Romney. "We're hopefully going to get there soon." "Well, not so soon. We hope to get there safe and sound."</blockquote>

  • Airplane Scuffle With LMFAO Rapper

In February 2010, Mitt Romney got into a <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/02/15/mitt-romney-threatened-on-plane_n_463322.html" target="_hplink">scuffle on an airplane</a> traveling back from the Winter Olympics in Vancouver. A Romney spokesman initially told reporters that a passenger became "physically violent" after Romney asked him to move his seat upright for takeoff. Rapper "Sky Blu from the group LMFAO later identified himself as the passenger, saying Romney loudly told him several times to straighten his seat. When Romney reached forward and grabbed Blu's shoulder, the rapper knocked Romney's hand away. <a href="http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1632218/lmfaos-sky-blu-was-other-man-mitt-romneys-plane-fight.jhtml" target="_hplink">From MTV</a>: <blockquote>If Romney had asked nicely, Blu said he might have put his seat up, but since he was so rude ... Well, next thing you know, Blu said Romney reached out and put his hand on his shoulder and asked him again to put his seat up. </blockquote> <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/02/18/mitt-romneys-fight-with-a_n_468407.html" target="_hplink">Blu said</a>, "And I didn't take it any further than that. I just wanted the man not to touch me; that's it."

  • Only $100s

At a campaign stop in Colorado, Romney mingled with patrons at a Mexican joint in Denver. From <a href="http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/romney-sharpens-attack-on-dodd-frank-financial-regulations/2011/06/20/AGPbUwdH_story.html" target="_hplink"><em>The Washington Post</em></a>: <blockquote>At one table, a boy offered Romney a $1 bill that he had folded origami-style for good luck. The candidate happily accepted it, but then rifled through his wallet looking for money to give the boy in return. Romney had a $100 bill, but evidently did not want to give that away. An aide handed him a $1 bill, but Romney said that wasn't enough. Then, deep inside his leather billfold, Romney found a $5 bill. "We'll give you an Abraham Lincoln back," he said, handing it to the boy.</blockquote>

  • A 'Product'

Mingling with voters at a <a href="http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/mitt-romney-reaches-out-but-often-lacks-common-touch/2011/10/21/gIQAkUVc7L_story.html?hpid=z3" target="_hplink">campaign stop in Iowa</a>, Romney ordered a plate of fried chicken, corn and baked beans. While chatting with the market's owner, Romney, ever the business executive, curiously referred to the meal as a "product."

  • Politicians Get Recognized

<a href="http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0711/59002.html#ixzz1biat38lC" target="_hplink">Courtesy of Politico</a>, this video shows Romney trying his hand at comedy during a campaign stop in New Hampshire. Romney talks to the crowd about how his four years in politics compare to his 25 years in the private sector, and how politicians get recognized in public. <blockquote>I was in the Newark airport, flying to Boston, and I was reading my newspaper and I heard someone shriek and I looked up and she was pointing at me. She had on a cowboy hat, cowboy boots; she was a Chinese exchange student. I knew she wasn't Texan because she had her jeans tucked into her boots. She pointed at me and she said, 'You're John Kerry!" And I said, "I sure am."</blockquote> For the full act, and the audience non-response, check out the video above.

  • Aloof Plane Flight

Mitt Romney displayed some particularly aloof behavior when a passenger sitting next to him on a fight to Boston tried to strike up conversation, <em>The New York Times</em> reported Nov. 6. <a href="http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/11/06/in-flight-romney-is-aloof-with-fellow-passengers/" target="_hplink">From the <em>Times</em></a>: <blockquote>According to Ms. McClanahan, about an hour into the flight -- which Mr. Romney mostly spent reading <em>USA Today</em> and using an iPad while wearing headphones -- she told him her idea for improving the American health care system: slashing overhead costs by switching to an electronic billing system. "He looked at me blankly and said, 'I understand,' then put his iPad headphones in and kept reading," she said.</blockquote> When another passenger asked Romney for a restarauant recommendation in Boston, he told her "I can't give you any .. You'll have to ask someone else," according to the article.

  • Perspired Heavily

For 15 years Mitt Romney ran the private equity group Bain Capital. The successful financial company earned him millions. <a href="http://articles.latimes.com/2007/dec/16/nation/na-mittbain16" target="_hplink">An <em>Los Angeles Times</em> article</a> about Romney's career at Bain painted a picture of the businessman under strain. "In tense meetings, he sometimes perspired so heavily it became an office joke. Or he nervously flapped his tie and said, "Oooohhh, what do we do now?" former colleagues told the paper.

  • The Decision

When Romney entered the 2008 presidential race, he released a <a href="http://www.myspace.com/video/mittromney/the-decision/16602414" target="_hplink">13-minute video </a>of his family aimed at humanizing him. The video, titled "The Decision," went viral, but not for the reasons Romney wanted. The short film is narrated mostly by his wife Anne Romney, who comes across as charming, personable and engaging, while the rest of the scene gives off a cloying whiff of privilege, cloister and artificiality. Mitt sits down with his family to discuss the pros and cons of running for president, although Anne had already admitted that the decision had basically been made earlier, undermining the conceit of the filmed family gathering. Mitt, apparently unable to behave informally even with his family, whips out a white legal pad to take notes on his family's discussion. "Let me ask: How do you minimize the downsides?" the business executive asks his sons and daughters. Tagg Romney, who suggests he runs, has one warning for his pop: "The country may think of you as a laughing stock."

Normally a material can be either magnetically or electrically polarized, but not both. Now researchers at the Niels Bohr Institute at the University of Copenhagen have studied a material that is simultaneously magnetically and electrically polarizable. This opens up new possibilities, for example, for sensors in technology of the future. The results have been published in the scientific journal, Nature Materials.

Materials that can be both magnetically and electrically polarized and also have additional properties are called multiferroics and were previously discovered by Russian researchers in the 1960s. But the technology to examine the materials did not exist at that time. It is only now, in recent years, that researchers have once again focused on analyzing the properties of such materials. Now you have research facilities that can analyze the materials down to the atomic level.

    Surprising test results

"We have studied the rare, naturally occurring iron compound, TbFeO3, using powerful neutron radiation in a magnetic field. The temperature was cooled down to near absolute zero, minus 271 C. We were able to identify that the atoms in the material are arranged in a congruent lattice structure consisting of rows of the heavy metal terbium separated by iron and oxygen atoms. Such lattices are well known, but their magnetic domains are new. Normally, the magnetic domains lie a bit helter-skelter, but here we observed that they lay straight as an arrow with the same distance between them. We were completely stunned when we saw it," explains Kim Lefmann, Associate Professor at the Nano-Science Center, University of Copenhagen.

They were very strange and very beautiful measurements and it is just such a discovery that can awaken the researchers' intense interest. Why does it look like this?

    Explaining physics

The experiments were conducted at the neutron research facility Helmholtz-Zentrum in Berlin in collaboration with researchers in Holland, Germany, at ESS in Lund and at Ris/DTU. They would like to get a general understanding of the material and with the help of calculations; and have now arrived at a more precise image of the relationship between the structure of the material and its physical properties.

"What the models are describing is that the terbium walls interact by exchanging waves of spin (magnetism), which is transferred through the magnetic iron lattice. The result is a Yukawa-like force, which is known from nuclear and particle physics. The material exhibits in a sense the same interacting forces that hold the particles together in atomic nuclei," explains Heloisa Bordallo, Associate Professor at the Niels Bohr Institute.

It is precisely this interaction between the transition metal, iron, and the rare element, terbium, that plays an important role in this magneto-electrical material. The terbium's waves of spin cause a significant increase in the electric polarization and the interaction between the ions of the elements creates one of the strongest magneto-electrical effects observed in materials.

"Through these results we found a new pathway to discover and develop new multiferroics", emphasize the researchers in the group. Now it is up to further research to determine whether this new effect could lead to new applications of these materials with the amazing physical properties.
